Honors in the Major

Students accepted into the Actuarial Science (ACTSC_BS) major are expected to enroll at University Park the fall semester after gaining entrance to the major. In addition, Senate Policy 83-80.5 stipulates that the college dean and program faculty may require up to 24 credits of course work in the major to be taken in the college where the degree is earned. Based on this policy, the Smeal College of Business has set the following credit earning limitations for ACTSC_BS majors: Actuarial science related courses Purdue University-Main Campus delivers respected, accessible online undergraduate programs for distance degree-seekers. The public institution also delivers academic programs from its campus in West Lafayette, Indiana. The online bachelor's in actuarial science program emphasizes scheduling flexibility.

Actuarial science major

Our program is ranked as UCAP – Advanced Curriculum by the SOA Listing of Academic Actuarial Science Programs. We currently offer courses for six Actuarial exams (P, FM, IFM, LTAM, STAM, SRM) required for admission to the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS). A major in Mathematics for the BA degree with a concentration in Actuarial Science consists of a minimum of 34 semester hours in mathematics and statistics courses and 18 semester hours from the Belk College of Business. In addition all students must meet the general education requirements of the University (See Catalog). Scholarships & Tuition Waivers

A College of Science degree is conferred when a student successfully completes all requirements in their degree program. Students will complete coursework or approved experiential learning activities to meet the following three degree components: Major in Actuarial Science B.S. This course provides exposure to the estimation and testing of economic models using statistical methods and appropriate empirical data. Emphasis is placed on model construction and the use of multiple linear regression for interpretation, analysis and forecasting.
