Here you'll get an introduction to ideas in mathematics and statistics that can be used to model real systems, with an emphasis on the valuation of financial derivatives. This module places equal emphasis on deterministic analysis (calculus, differential equations) and stochastic analysis (Brownian motion, birth and death processes). In both cases, in addition to theoretical analysis, appropriate computational algorithms are introduced. The first half of the class introduces general modelling and simulation tools, and the second half focuses on the specific application of valuing financial derivatives, including the celebrated Black-Scholes theory. Computing and Data Science Students entering the Joint Major in Mathematics and Computer Science are normally expected to have completed the courses below or their equivalents. Otherwise, they will be required to make up any deficiencies in these courses over and above the 72 credits of courses in the program specification.

Small but beautiful and with a low cost of living: This is the Saarland with its French flair, high quality of life, and diverse culture and nature – but above all its warm and open people. A semester ticket allows free trips by train or bus in the surrounding area, and Paris lures in less than two hours by ICE. Short distances are also to be found on campus: The cafeteria and the cafés invite you to relax and enjoy. The nearby forest and the sports courses offer opportunities to keep fit. And the university orchestra, choirs, theater groups, and language center offer cultural variety. Modules September start - 2023 This module provides a bridge between A-level mathematics and university mathematics. Some of the material will be similar to that in A-level Maths and Further Maths but will be treated in more depth, and some of the material will be new. Topics of study ...
